Bronco Nation School Plans: “Following on Governor Abbott’s Executive Order on schools issued this afternoon, it is important to note that while the Governor’s decision continues the closure of school buildings for in-person classroom attendance for the duration of the 2019-20 school year, it in no way ends at-home instructional support for Texas’s millions of students.” “School districts across Texas have worked diligently to make the transition to virtual learning. Students must continue to receive daily academic support from their teachers and schools for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.” Therefore, Meadow ISD will continue the on-line instruction per the commissioner’s guidance. Graduation Plans: A graduation planning committee is being formed to create something special for our graduates Summer Programs: Evaluation process is ongoing to determine if we will have any type of summer school Grades: With all the changes Texas schools are experiencing with COVID-19, the Texas Education Agency has given districts the flexibility to continue providing you with information on your student’s academic performance. Districts have the authority to determine how they will provide this notice to parents for the remainder of the school year. Texas Education Code, 28.022(a)(2) requires school districts, at least once every 12 weeks, to give written notice to a parent of a student’s performance in each class or subject. Texas Education Code, 28.022(a)(3) requires districts to, at least once every three weeks, give written notice to a parent or legal guardian of a student’s performance in a foundation subject if the student’s performance in the subject is consistently unsatisfactory. Since we are adjusting to distance learning, we would like to share with you how we will be going forward with grades. Due to the interruption during the 5th Six-Weeks, we will not be mailing out report cards for this six-weeks. However, we will be mailing a 3-week Progress Report on Monday, April 27th. For the end of the year, we will have one final Report Card mailed out on Thursday, May 28th. The average will not affect a student’s GPA. For a student’s GPA, the district will utilize the previously recorded 1st Semester Average and the 2nd Semester Average. The 2nd Semester will be determined by the 4th Six weeks grade. (Note Dual Credit High School Grades will be factored into final GPA) Grades for on-line instruction need to be recorded as: PASS: Students showed effort and completed the work toward the content-specific daily/weekly activities INCOMPLETE: Student is not showing progress toward accomplishing the learning provided in content specific daily/weekly activities. Student made little or no effort to complete work, after several contacts from teacher Thank you for ensuring our students are completing all their assignments, as teachers are actively monitoring student performance and questions. Our goal is to have all students meet their proficiency levels for this year in order to ensure they are prepared to be academically successful moving into the next school year. We are all in this together, and we look forward to continuing working closely with you during this time. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about these grades. If you or your student need assistance with remote learning or technology, please contact the campus principals.

Meadow ISD has a partnership with LEARN. Sara Moreno is our representative from LEARN. Mrs. Moreno offers free services to seniors to support their college aspirations. Mrs. Moreno gives academic assistance to students with college admissions, FAFSA, ACT and SAT testing, early graduation, and more. Universities aren't for everyone, so Mrs. Moreno helps students research the best approach for their interests. What a great program for Meadow ISD ! Junior High students will need to login to Edgenuity to access assignments. High School students will use Study Island for most of their classes. The links to these two programs are on the Meadow ISD website under the Parent/Student tab. It is my belief that most if not all students will remember their Google login information, but the two electronic platforms may be an issue. Please email me if your child can't get online and I will get a generic password for them. bric.turner@meadowisd.net if you have any questions. Thank you and let us know if you need anything.

Bronco Nation by order of the Governor of Texas schools are to remain closed until March 4th. Therefore, we will continue with on-line educational plan that we currently have in place. This also means that any school activity during this time will be cancelled. We follow this order because of our dedication to eliminating this COVID-19 health crisis. Make no mistake Meadow ISD faculty and staff want to work with kids. We have dedicated our livelihoods to serving the students in Region 17. I can’t express enough how much we miss our students and can’t wait to see them again. Unfortunately, this is not possible. Our Football Stadium Lights will continue to be turn on nightly as a symbol of dedication to our students. To all our students and parents “We Miss You and Want Each of You to Be Safe and Healthy. God Bless Darrian Dover
